North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve ((ラトビア語:Ziemeļvidzemes biosfēras rezervāts)) is the only biosphere reserve in Latvia, located in the northern part of country along the border with Estonia. ==Main characteristics== * Coordinates: 57°20' to 58°10' N; 24°20' to 26°00' E * Area: 4 576 km² (roughly 6% of Latvia) of which * * Sanctuaries: 184,4 km² * * Landscape protection zones: 1 600 km² * * Neutral zones: 1 625,6 km² * * Sea littoral until the depth of 10 m: 1 160 km² * Height above the sea level: 0 - 127 m * Main ecosystems: temperate coniferous and mixed forests.
